JasX Survey 2025 Pt3 – Year in review and plans for 2025

Year in review

JasX/sTag

We introduced a standard of character tagging in SL called sTag. Since you can now scan avatar attachments in SL, you can use attachment descriptions to set metadata. Such as breast size, muscle tone, species, clothing, and more. The JasX HUD will soon be polling this information automatically from you whenever you switch avatar, automatically setting your preferences.

The main benefit of having this system is that it doesn’t need you to add any scripts to your avatar, you can just edit description. The system is mainly used in GoThongs at the moment, to have NPCs give different flavor texts based on your appearance to them.

There will be more information about this as the standard gets fleshed out and incorporated into the JasX HUD.

GoThongs

GoThongs 2.3.1 was released, adding weapon abilities and new PanRi content.

BARE

A beta HUD was released, with a new UI and better performance thanks to linkset data.

FetishQuest

Big Cat Quest, a roguelike mode was released, allowing devs to create standalone stories for FQ. In addition, additional character images have been added, new soundtracks, and an entirely new art system that supports different armor visuals and facial expressions.

VibHub

Little development was done on VibHub last year. I take full responsibility for it, but I was also hit by some setbacks. Like when I ordered batteries (takes 4+ weeks to ship) and they sent me the wrong kind. And then when I made time for VibHub in autumn I ended up with long covid and got barely anything done for 2 months.

The good news is that when I finally got around to working on it, there were only a few rough edges to fix!

DanglyTube

The site is going strong. We now have 23 followers that are mirroring our content, and have added one instance that we are mirroring ourselves.

We have 373 users and are serving 105 videos, with 23271 views.

Plans for the 2025

JasX

As you probably noticed, in February we moved the JasX server. Which means we now have a full dedicated server. We’re monitoring for errors caused by the upgrade, but please report any errors you encounter at discord (discord.jasx.org) or to Jasdac Stockholm in SL.

The old JasX news system has also been replaced by WordPress, and can be accessed at https://jasx.org/blog

Updates will be posted here instead of on Patreon, since this blog means we don’t have to censor adult content.

Other tasks for 2025 are:

  • Make a new tutorial video that shows how to use grouped outfits in the JasX HUD.
  • Release a JasX HUD with official sTag integration.
  • Add a bug report link on the website that takes you to the project repo.

sTag

  • Keep working on the spec.
  • Build a tag assistant tool.

GoThongs

More content is planned for this year as usual, but no ETA or sneak previews yet. Keep an eye on the blog!

VibHub

We now have a working prototype of the VibHub Micro (Note: Device in the picture is a prototype and subject to change)

Some specs:

  • Num vibrator ports: 2, individually controllable
  • Dimensions: 77x45x19mm (3.03×1.78×0.75″)
  • Battery: Built in 1500mAh lithium with charger.
  • Open source/Open hardware

In addition, we’re planning on making a small adapter that lets you turn any vibrator (that can be direct driven with 5V/500mA) into a smart one by cutting the leads and screwing them to the adapter. I’m planning on buying a few common ones and making tutorials on danglytube.

More info will be posted in the blog as soon as we receive the next board revision!

FetishQuest

Let’s start by discussing a bit about Big Cat Quest, since it’s my personal favorite piece of content this year. Since many are yet to try it, I’ll describe it first.

A major difference from the main game is that there’s a permanent game over if you are defeated. But each time you launch the game, the townsfolk you meet and dungeons, abilities and gear available to you are randomized. Enemies will also telegraph their attacks, giving players more room to think about how to handle their turn.

You can play it alone by controlling both characters, but it’s a lot more fun when you play with a friend, since the game mode has 2-player coop.

A new feature brought out with BCQ is the ability to do game-mode settings, for an instance changing the sex of the player characters and NPCs.

I’m glad that the reviews are generally favorable! Especially the music since I spent a lot of time making it. BCQ has around 100 minutes of original music (hand made, though a few use AI generated sound effects and pads). As a shameless plug, the full soundtrack can be downloaded on soundcloud. And just like the rest of FQ, is licensed Creative Commons BY.

In either case, planned features for this year:

  • Link the devtools with the wiki, and work on better documentation.
  • Investigate if I can do an image host so you don’t have to use third party.
  • Replace the template characters in the main game with reactive ones (you can try playing as Lynn the fox if you want to see reactive layers in actions). I’m targeting a male/female version of each affinity.
  • Add more music to the main game. Yuug port definitely needs a shanty-esque song.
  • After that, I’ll either work on a new separate story, or a quest for the main game. We’ll see, making 5 new reactive characters is going to take a TON of work. Even with AI.

DanglyTube

We’ll keep the site updated, and I may investigate integrating it with a mail server to make it easier to sign up.

BARE

Release the beta.
